Is micro1 legit, and what does it pay?

micro1 is a real company, micro1 Inc., and its experts work as independent contractors paid twice a month through Deel. Pay is set per role, so read the posting. Nothing in micro1’s pages promises a number of hours. From micro1’s own pages, read 17 October 2026.

Is micro1 a real company

Yes. micro1’s site is copyrighted to micro1 Inc., and its referral terms name the same entity, governed by California law with disputes heard in San Francisco.

micro1’s homepage describes it as a data research company. It sells evaluation work to AI labs, among other products, and recruits experts to produce that work. The homepage names no founders and gives no funding figures, so none are stated here.

The homepage lists two contact addresses, [email protected] and [email protected]. A recruiter writing from any other domain is worth checking against our scam checklist.

How micro1 hires

micro1 hires through an application, an interview with its AI interviewer, Zara, and a review. Our hiring process guide covers each step and the timings micro1 states. The Zara interview guide covers the part most people find hardest.

What micro1 pays

micro1 posts pay on each role, not as one platform rate. Right now its 216 open roles on this site state hourly pay from $6–400, with a median advertised ceiling of $100.

Those figures come from the postings as micro1 lists them. Its jobs page gives no rates of its own, and its help library says that if a pipeline pays per task, pay follows completed tasks.

A posted rate says what an hour of accepted work pays. It does not say how many hours exist.

How and when micro1 pays

micro1 pays through Deel, in two pay periods a month. Its Deel page sets the periods as the 1st to the 15th and the 16th to month end. Payment is processed within 5 days after a period closes.

Its payroll policy gives the usual dates:

Work completedPaid around
1st to the 15thThe 20th
16th to month endThe 5th of the next month

The same policy says approval notices usually arrive a few days earlier, around the 3rd and 18th. Weekends and US bank holidays push payment to the next business day. It adds that timing can vary by one or two days, and US-based contractors may see an extra business day.

For hourly pipelines, micro1 says hours are exported from its time tracker at the end of each cycle and shown on the Deel invoice. A late payment goes to your pipeline lead.

Who can apply

micro1 does not publish one country list. Its jobs page calls the work remote and lists no requirements. Its library says ID verification accepts an unexpired passport, driving licence or national ID, scanned with a device camera, and that the name must match your application.

Each posting can name its own location rule. This site reads that line for you on every role page, so check it there before applying.

What happens after the AI interview

After you meet micro1’s certification criteria, it asks you to finish your profile and verify your identity through a third party. Per its next steps page, IDs in English or Arabic usually clear in minutes. Other languages may need manual review of up to 72 hours.

Once verified, you receive a certificate and join the certified talent pool. From there you can be invited to roles or apply to open ones. The meaning of each status on your dashboard is in every micro1 application status.

What the contract says

micro1’s expert agreement page says experts are independent contractors, not employees. They handle their own taxes, insurance and benefits.

It states no guaranteed hours. Roles continue while the client has work. micro1 says it tries to give notice when a pipeline ends and to place you on a similar one if it can.

An expert can end the agreement with 5 business days’ written notice. micro1 can end it immediately on written notice.

How this site is paid

Red Pen Jobs lists micro1 roles. If you are hired through a link on this site and complete 10 hours, micro1 pays this site a referral fee. Your pay is unaffected.

What micro1 does not publish

  • A single pay rate for the platform, or an average earned per expert.
  • How many hours a certified expert can expect, or how long the gaps between projects run.
  • A list of countries it accepts experts from.
  • Its founders or funding, on the pages checked here.
  • Withdrawal fees or withdrawal methods, on the Deel page of its help library.

This site is not affiliated with micro1, and passing the interview is not a promise of work.
