Sovrano AI review: the work, the pay and the screening
Sovrano AI is one of the 8 platforms this site tracks. Everything below comes from Sovrano AI's own public pages or from our check of its roles each morning.

The short version
Sovrano AI is a Barcelona company that supplies expert evaluation of AI models. You take skills assessments, and some roles add an AI interview of about 20 minutes. Sovrano says to expect 2 to 4 weeks for a reply. Contracts are hourly with a cap, or paid per approved task, and its pages disagree on weekly or monthly pay. Work is not guaranteed. It suits experts who can work without AI help.

What Sovrano AI is
Sovrano AI is a company in Barcelona that supplies expert human evaluation to AI labs, robotics companies and enterprise AI teams. Doctors, lawyers, engineers, linguists and researchers check and train AI models in their own field.
We are not part of Sovrano AI, we do not recruit for it, and we are not its agent, representative or partner. How this site earns money sets out the one commercial link there is.
How to get hired
- Open a Sovrano AI role on this site and press Apply.
- Create your Sovrano account through the link.
- Complete your profile and the assessments the role asks for.
- Apply to the role; some roles add an AI interview.
You create an account, complete your profile and take the assessments a role asks for. Some roles add an AI interview of about 20 minutes, in Chrome on a desktop or laptop with camera and microphone on, with up to 3 retakes.
Sovrano says to expect 2 to 4 weeks for a response after the interview. Its help pages say AI and LLM tools are strictly prohibited in assessments unless the assessment says otherwise.

The roles we list ask experts to write realistic tasks from their own work, run them through AI models, and grade where the model gets it wrong. Most pay by the hour; a few pay a flat amount per approved task.
Sovrano has two kinds of contract: hourly, with tracked hours and a weekly or monthly cap, and deliverable-based, paid when the work is reviewed and approved. You can hold at most two active contracts at once.
How much work there is after you are accepted, and how long a project runs, depends on the project. We have not done the work ourselves.
What it pays
Across the 19 hourly Sovrano AI roles we track, listed rates span $35–125 an hour in US dollars, exactly as each posting states them. That is a span, not an average. The only pay figure we ever show is the one on the posting. We do not estimate, and we do not convert currency.
2 roles pay a fixed amount per session or per task instead, shown on each role page and left out of the hourly span.
When and how Sovrano AI pays out for completed work is a separate question: see what we do not know.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Signing up is free, Sovrano says.
- Each AI interview type allows up to 3 retakes, and only your latest attempt counts.
- If a project ends early, Sovrano says all approved work up to that point is paid.
- You can have several applications in progress, and finished assessments carry over to new projects.
- Sovrano says interview recordings are never used to train AI models.
Cons
- Pay timing is unclear: the help centre says monthly through Deel and marks that page as being updated, while another page says weekly.
- AI tools are banned in assessments unless the assessment says otherwise, and clear misuse in work usually ends the contract.
- At most 2 active contracts. Contracts have end dates, and renewal is not automatic.
- Hours over your contract cap are usually not approved or paid.
- Offboarding decisions are final, with no formal appeal.
- The NDA has no end date, and evaluation work cannot go in a portfolio or thesis, even anonymised.
What is known, and what is not
Known
- Postings state the pay, per hour or per approved task.
- Work is remote; most postings ask for at least 10 hours a week.
- Screening uses assessments, and some roles an AI interview.
- You can hold at most two active contracts.
Not known
- The payment method.
- How much work there is.
- How many people are taken.
The questions we cannot answer yet, in full:
- The payment method. Sovrano's help centre says it pays monthly through Deel and marks that page as being updated; some postings say payment runs through PayPal. Check the contract you are offered.
- How much work there is. How many hours a project offers once you are accepted, and how long it runs.
- How many people are taken. Postings state no number of openings.
Who should apply, and who should skip
Professionals and researchers in physics, medicine, mathematics, engineering, software, biology, chemistry, law, finance and accounting, among others.
Read the location line first: many roles are open to a short list of countries. Sovrano says its service is available in most countries, with some regions restricted because it pays through Deel.
Apply if
- You have a degree and real experience in the role's field.
- You can commit the weekly hours the posting asks for.
Skip if
- You live outside the countries the posting names.
- You want to use AI tools in the assessment. Sovrano forbids it unless the assessment says otherwise.

Questions

- What is Sovrano AI?
- Sovrano AI is a Barcelona company that supplies expert human evaluation to AI labs. Experts write and grade tasks that test AI models in their own field.
- What does Sovrano AI pay?
- Across the 19 hourly Sovrano AI roles we track, the listed rates span $35–125 an hour in US dollars, as each posting states them. Individual ranges vary widely by role, and every role states its pay. 2 roles pay a fixed amount per session or per task instead, shown on each role page and left out of the hourly span. We show what each posting lists and never estimate.
- How does Sovrano screening work?
- You complete a profile and the assessments a role asks for. Some roles add an AI interview of about 20 minutes, with up to 3 retakes. Sovrano says to expect 2 to 4 weeks for a response.
- How does Sovrano pay?
- Each posting states its pay, per hour or per approved task. Hourly contracts track hours against a weekly or monthly cap. The help centre says payment is monthly; check the contract you are offered for the method.
- When does Sovrano pay?
- Sovrano's payment page says it processes payouts at the end of each calendar month through Deel, arriving 2 to 5 business days later. The same page says the policy is being updated, and another page says weekly, so confirm the timing in your offer.
- What if I hear nothing back from Sovrano?
- Sovrano says review takes from a few days to 2 to 4 weeks. If an application has been under review for more than 4 weeks, it says to email support with the project name and your account email.
- How many hours a week is Sovrano work?

- Why do Sovrano contracts end?

- Does Sovrano charge a fee?
- Sovrano says creating an account is free. None of the Sovrano pages listed under "How we checked" mentions a fee charged to experts.
- Do you work for Sovrano?
- No. This site is independent of Sovrano AI and is not its agent, recruiter, representative or partner. If someone signs up through a link here and is paid for work, Sovrano pays this site a referral fee. It never changes what the reader is paid.
What happens when you apply
The apply button sits on each role page, never on a page meant to be shared. Pressing it sends you
through our own /go/ redirect, which records that a role was clicked (no cookie, no
personal data) and then on to Sovrano AI.
The link opens the role you came from on Sovrano AI. Sign up from there and the credit holds; go around the link and it does not.
If you're hired and paid for work, Sovrano AI pays this site a referral fee. Your pay is unaffected. Sovrano credits the link when you sign up through it. Already have a Sovrano account? Then no referral applies.
Checked . The list is rebuilt every morning; roles that disappear from Sovrano AI are marked closed rather than deleted. Read the full disclosure and who runs this.
