Alignerr vs Mercor: pay, screening and eligibility

Alignerr is Labelbox’s much larger board of contractor listings. Mercor is a smaller, more specialised board with a stated hourly rate on every open role. Alignerr suits applying broadly across many listings; Mercor suits a professional credential and a role with a rate set for it. We do not list Alignerr and earn nothing if you apply there. Mercor pays this site a referral fee if you are hired through its link.

The work

Alignerr’s board spans research, document review, content evaluation, data labelling, mapping and language work, much of it stated as needing no prior experience. Mercor skews toward professional and technical roles: software engineers, analysts, accountants, lawyers, doctors and generalists with a specific work background, with the qualification usually being subject knowledge rather than coding ability.

The pay

Both post their open roles with an hourly pay range attached, and both pay weekly. The difference is how specific that range is to the role in front of you. Alignerr’s board listed 5,624 roles on 27 September 2026, and many entirely unrelated ones, research, document review, data labelling, carry the identical $40-120/hr band, while its language and transcription roles pay less, $10-35/hr on several listings. Mercor’s range runs $15–450, set per role rather than repeated across thousands of them.

A listed rate on either platform is not promised hours or income. It says what the role pays if you get work on it, not how much work there is.

Getting in

Both screen with an AI interview. Alignerr’s process page names its interviewer “Zara” and pairs it with a possible domain-specific assessment. Mercor’s screening is its own AI interview, about 20 minutes for most people and the only screening method it uses, with up to three retakes. Neither offers a human-interviewer alternative. Alignerr adds phone and government-ID verification through Persona before that stage; Mercor asks for a resume and any role-specific assessments first, then verifies work authorisation.

Staying in

Alignerr’s rules page says contributors who “consistently produce poor quality work” face consequences, including a ban, and separately forbids discussing project details publicly, on social media, forums or any public platform. Some workers report accounts deactivated shortly before a payment was due, with no reason given by support.

Mercor’s contracts end in the ways its own policies describe, covered in the four ways Mercor work stops. Its pages also describe flexibility once you are working: you can hold more than one Mercor hourly contract at a time, as long as each project lead knows your availability.

Which one

Pick Alignerr if you want to apply broadly to a large board of listings, and you are fine with many of those listings sharing one pay band rather than a rate set for your specific skill.

Pick Mercor if you have a professional credential or domain background, want a role that is listed and checked here before you apply, and would rather wait through a slower process for a rate matched to that background.

Mercor’s 202 open roles are listed on this site with their pay and eligibility, and applying through our link earns Mercor’s referral fee for us if you’re hired, at no cost to you. Alignerr’s listings are not here and are not linked from here. Browse Mercor’s open roles or everything open now.
