Alignerr is a real company, a Labelbox-led contractor network whose binding user contract is with ALIGNERR LLC, per its own privacy page. Its homepage claims “$80/hr average” pay and “up to $150/hr,” but its public board shows the same $40-120/hr range on many unrelated listings. A common report from contributors is stretches with no project after they finish onboarding.
We do not list Alignerr and earn nothing if you apply there.
Is Alignerr legit
Labelbox, Inc. runs Alignerr and calls it its expert-talent product. Labelbox is SOC 2 Type II certified and has raised roughly $189 million from investors including a16z, SoftBank Vision Fund and Gradient Ventures, per Crunchbase’s aggregation of disclosed funding rounds. The contract you actually sign is not with Labelbox. It is with a separate entity, ALIGNERR LLC, registered in San Francisco and governed by Delaware law.
It is a real contractor marketplace, not a scam. It has a public board of roles, government-ID verification through Persona, and a working application flow. Alignerr’s public pages publish no referral programme terms. A $150 total referral figure circulates on third-party review sites; we found no Alignerr or Labelbox page confirming it, so treat it as unverified.

What Alignerr pays
Alignerr’s home and about pages claim “$80/hr average pay” and “up to $150/hr.” Neither page shows how that average is worked out.
The public board is more specific. On 27 September 2026 it listed 5,624 roles, each carrying its own pay range. Many unrelated listings, from research analyst to document review to data labelling, all show the same $40-120/hr band. Language and transcription work pays less: audio transcription and transcript-editing roles in Hindi, German, French and several other languages list $10-35/hr, and a Korean-language role requiring a bachelor’s degree lists $30-35/hr.
Payment is weekly, set up through Stripe Connect or PayPal during onboarding.
A listed rate is not promised hours or income. It says what a role pays if you get work on it, not how much work there is.
How the work runs
Alignerr’s process page describes the flow: sign up with Google or a resume upload, apply to a listing on the public board, verify your phone number and a government ID through Persona, then a possible “Zara” AI interview or a domain-specific assessment. After that comes contractor and payment setup, then onboarding and access to a Discord community. Alignerr does not say whether the interview or assessment time is paid.
Work is offered per listing rather than as a steady queue, so gaps between projects can happen. Alignerr’s rules page says contributors who “consistently produce poor quality work” face consequences, including a ban, and separately forbids discussing project details publicly, on social media, forums or any public platform, with removal and legal action as the stated consequence.
What people report
These are reports from public reviews, not facts from Alignerr’s own pages:
- People who have worked on Alignerr describe stretches of weeks or months with no project after onboarding.
- Some report an account deactivated shortly before a payment was due, with no clear reason from support.
- Workers say Alignerr owes them money, and that complaint threads about it keep disappearing from public forums.
- Because pay depends on a task being approved, some describe submitted work going unpaid when it is rejected or never reviewed.
- Some describe the Zara AI interview as more natural than they expected.
