AI labs need legal work that people who have practiced would stand behind. A model can produce plausible legal text easily. Getting it to reach a conclusion a lawyer would sign is the hard part, and it takes practitioners to do it.

This listing is a waitlist, not an open position. No project is attached to your application. Applying puts you in the network we draw from when a legal project opens. We ask for one thing: a short AI interview about your field, about 20 minutes, that you take once you have applied. We review applicants from time to time, check whether each profile fits the kind of projects we run, and reach out directly with the scope, hours and rate when there is a match. Timing depends on demand, so you may hear from us soon or only after a while, and we will not contact everyone on the list. You commit to nothing by applying.

Work varies by project. Depending on the project you might write contract and case scenarios in a specific jurisdiction, write the yes/no checklists a supervising lawyer would apply, review other lawyers' work, or grade AI output on legal research and drafting. Hours, scope, jurisdiction and rate are set per project and sent to you in writing before you start.

On a project you write realistic legal tasks and the deliverable an experienced lawyer would produce, review other experts' work against an acceptance checklist, and evaluate AI answers for errors in reasoning, authority and jurisdiction. Reviewers check everything, and you are paid for approved work.

Key responsibilities

  • Write realistic legal tasks and the deliverables a practitioner would produce, such as memos, contract reviews, research notes and advice letters
  • Review other experts' work against an acceptance checklist and explain what is wrong and why
  • Evaluate AI-generated legal answers and correct errors in reasoning, authority and jurisdiction
  • Document your reasoning so a colleague could follow it line by line
  • Apply reviewer feedback and revise until the work is accepted
  • Work from public or illustrative facts only, with no confidential or client-identifying material.

Requirements

  • Law degree (JD, LLB, LLM or equivalent)
  • Fluent written English
  • Reliable internet connection and a quiet place to work
  • Willing to complete a short AI interview
  • Willing to work without AI assistance where the project does not allow it

Ideal qualifications

  • A law degree (JD, LLB, LLM or equivalent)
  • Strong drafting and legal research
  • Able to lay out the reasoning behind a position and not only the position
  • Fluent written English.

Nice to have

  • Admission to practice in at least one jurisdiction
  • Years of practice experience
  • Practice depth in corporate, IP, employment, tax, privacy, regulatory or litigation work
  • Qualification or experience in a second jurisdiction, or working fluency in another language
  • In-house counsel experience
  • Prior work on an AI training or data platform.

What success looks like

  • You apply and complete the short AI interview
  • When a project matches your background we contact you with the scope, hours and rate
  • You decide whether to take it, with no obligation either way
  • Work you do is reviewed and you are paid for approved work.
