Cybersecurity Expert
Role details
Skills the posting asks for
- Application security
- Threat modeling
- Secure code review
- Penetration testing
- Incident response
- Cloud security
- Detection engineering
- Cryptography
AI labs need security answers checked by people who have worked incidents and reviewed real systems. A model can sound certain about an attack path or a control that does not hold up, and a confident wrong answer in security does real damage. Seeing that takes a practitioner.
This listing is a waitlist, not an open position. No project is attached to your application. Applying puts you in the network we draw from when a cybersecurity project opens. We ask for one thing: a short AI interview about your field, about 20 minutes, that you take once you have applied. We review applicants from time to time, check whether each profile fits the kind of projects we run, and reach out directly with the scope, hours and rate when there is a match. Timing depends on demand, so you may hear from us soon or only after a while, and we will not contact everyone on the list. You commit to nothing by applying.
Work varies by project. Depending on the project you might write threat modeling and secure code review tasks with reference answers, review other experts' work against a checklist, or grade AI-written security analysis for correctness and missed risks. Hours, scope and rate are set per project and sent to you in writing before you start.
On a project you write realistic security scenarios and the answer a senior practitioner would give, review other experts' work against an acceptance checklist, and evaluate AI answers for wrong attack paths, unsafe recommendations and false claims about how a control behaves. Reviewers check everything, and you are paid for approved work.
Key responsibilities
- Write realistic security scenarios, such as threat models and code review tasks, with the answer a senior practitioner would give
- Review other experts' work against an acceptance checklist and explain what is wrong and why
- Evaluate AI-generated security analysis for correctness, missed risks and unsafe advice
- Document your reasoning so a colleague could follow it step by step
- Apply reviewer feedback and revise until the work is accepted
- Work from public or illustrative material only, with nothing proprietary from an employer or client
Requirements
- Hands-on security experience (application security, cloud security, detection, incident response or penetration testing), or a related degree in progress or completed
- Fluent written English
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet place to work
- Willing to complete a short AI interview
- Willing to work without AI assistance where the project does not allow it
Ideal qualifications
- Professional experience in security engineering, assessment or response
- Strong command of at least one area, such as application, cloud or detection
- Able to explain a security decision in plain written English
Nice to have
- Security certifications such as OSCP, CISSP or GIAC
- Bug bounty or CTF track record
- Incident response or on-call experience
- Prior work on an AI training or data platform
What success looks like
- You apply and complete the short AI interview
- When a project matches your background we contact you with the scope, hours and rate
- You decide whether to take it, with no obligation either way
- Work you do is reviewed and you are paid for approved work.
