Is Sovrano AI legit, and what does it pay?

Sovrano AI, S.L. is a real Barcelona company that pays its experts as contractors through Deel. Pay is set per posting, by the hour or per approved task. Its payment pages carry an “out of date” warning, so check the contract you are offered. From Sovrano’s own pages, read 17 October 2026.

Sovrano AI is a small Barcelona company

Sovrano’s careers page says the team is 15 people in Barcelona. It also names a funding round led by b2venture, with no amount or date.

Its homepage says Sovrano supplies expert evaluation data, benchmarks and test environments to AI developers. Its referral programme terms name the legal entity, Sovrano AI, S.L., at Passeig de Gràcia 101, 08008 Barcelona, under Spanish law, and give [email protected] for questions. Its pages name no founders.

Experts sign three agreements before work starts, per Sovrano’s agreements page: the Evaluator Agreement, a confidentiality agreement and an invention-assignment agreement. The page says they cannot be changed for individuals.

How Sovrano hires

Sovrano hires through an account, a profile and skills assessments, then an AI interview for some roles. Its for-students page lists four steps: free account, skills-based assessment, AI-matched project recommendations, then work.

The AI interview takes about 20 minutes and runs in Chrome on a desktop or laptop, with camera and microphone on. Sovrano says a team member reviews every interview and a person decides. It allows one attempt plus up to 3 retakes, and only the latest counts.

Sovrano says to expect a reply within 2 to 4 weeks. Its application page adds that some projects answer within days. After 4 weeks, it says to email support.

Assessments carry their own limits. Per its assessments page, you get 3 attempts, most have a timer you cannot pause, and results stay valid for 12 months in most cases.

What Sovrano AI pays, as the postings state it

Sovrano’s postings state pay in dollars or euros, and this site shows each in the currency posted. It never converts between them. Of the 20 Sovrano roles open now, 17 state an hourly rate in dollars, from $35–125 an hour. 2 pay a stated amount per approved task, and 1 state an hourly rate in euros.

The median advertised ceiling among the dollar roles is $125 an hour. A quarter cap at $125 or below, and a quarter at $125 or above.

Sovrano’s for-students page gives its own general range, €30 to €150 or more an hour, with specialist work at the top. Postings are the better guide. They show the exact rate before you accept, which the same page also promises.

Many of these postings share one rate, because Sovrano posts batches of similar roles.

How and when Sovrano pays

Sovrano’s payment schedule page says it pays once a month, after month-end, for approved work from that month. Deel processes the payment on business days, and funds usually land 2 to 5 business days later.

That page has no minimum payout, so part-month work is paid. It lists paid work as evaluation tasks that pass quality review and required training at your contract rate. It lists unpaid time as flagged tasks, work submitted in bad faith, and idle time with no tracked activity for 90 seconds.

Two warnings apply:

  • The page shows a banner saying Sovrano is updating its payment policy and that some information may be out of date.
  • The for-students page says both “monthly” and “weekly payments” in different places.

Sovrano’s payments help section repeats the same banner on its Deel pages. It says Deel creates your account after your first project acceptance and that you handle your own taxes as an independent contractor. It does not list withdrawal methods or fees. Some postings name a different route: the Physics Expert posting says payment runs through PayPal. Check the contract you are offered.

Contracts and hours

Sovrano’s contract types page describes two kinds. Hourly contracts pay per tracked hour, with a cap on billable hours that each contract sets. Deliverable-based contracts pay per work item after review and approval.

You can hold at most 2 active contracts at once. Paused, ended and cancelled contracts do not count toward that limit.

The for-students page puts the usual commitment at 5 to 15 hours a week, remote and self-directed.

Who can apply

Sovrano’s pages give no country list. The application checklist asks you to confirm your work authorisation, and the payments page says Sovrano can onboard you anywhere Deel works, in more than 160 countries.

Each posting can name its own countries. On this site that line appears on every role page, so check it before you spend time on assessments.

What Sovrano does not publish

  • Its founders, or the amount of its funding.
  • How many hours of work a project offers once you are accepted, or how long it runs.
  • How many people it accepts, or how many openings a role has.
  • Withdrawal methods and fees on its Deel pages, or which roles pay through PayPal rather than Deel.
  • Whether pay is weekly or monthly, while its payment pages are being updated.
