Mathematics Expert
Role details
Skills the posting asks for
- Proof writing
- Calculus
- Linear algebra
- Probability
- Discrete mathematics
- Real analysis
- Statistics
- Mathematical modeling
AI labs need mathematics checked by people who can follow a proof line by line. A model can state the theorem and write something that looks like a proof. Knowing where it quietly skips a step takes a mathematician.
This listing is a waitlist, not an open position. No project is attached to your application. Applying puts you in the network we draw from when a mathematics project opens. We ask for one thing: a short AI interview about your field, about 20 minutes, that you take once you have applied. We review applicants from time to time, check whether each profile fits the kind of projects we run, and reach out directly with the scope, hours and rate when there is a match. Timing depends on demand, so you may hear from us soon or only after a while, and we will not contact everyone on the list. You commit to nothing by applying.
Work varies by project. Depending on the project you might write problems with complete solutions at a level you choose, review other mathematicians' solutions against a checklist, or grade AI proofs and calculations step by step. Hours, scope and rate are set per project and sent to you in writing before you start.
On a project you write original problems and the solution a careful mathematician would write, review other experts' work against an acceptance checklist, and evaluate AI answers for gaps in reasoning, unjustified steps and wrong results. Reviewers check everything, and you are paid for approved work.
Key responsibilities
- Write original problems with complete, rigorous solutions
- Review other experts' work against an acceptance checklist and explain what is wrong and why
- Evaluate AI-generated proofs and calculations step by step for gaps and errors
- Document your reasoning so a colleague could verify each step
- Apply reviewer feedback and revise until the work is accepted
- Work from original or public material only
Requirements
- Degree in mathematics or a closely related field, in progress or completed
- Fluent written English
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet place to work
- Willing to complete a short AI interview
- Willing to work without AI assistance where the project does not allow it
Ideal qualifications
- A degree in mathematics, statistics or a closely related field
- Comfortable writing proofs in clear English
- Strong in at least one area such as analysis, algebra, probability or discrete mathematics
Nice to have
- A graduate degree in mathematics
- Competition or olympiad experience
- Teaching or tutoring experience
- Prior work on an AI training or data platform
What success looks like
- You apply and complete the short AI interview
- When a project matches your background we contact you with the scope, hours and rate
- You decide whether to take it, with no obligation either way
- Work you do is reviewed and you are paid for approved work.
