Role Title: Subject Matter Expert – Financial & Operations Chart Analysis

micro1 is selecting Subject Matter Expert – Financial & Operations Chart Analysis contributors to support a customer's project focused on high-level chart interpretation and reasoning. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.


Scope of Work

  1. Interpret a range of complex financial and operational charts, such as candlestick charts, yield curves, drawdown charts, market-volume charts, control charts, Pareto charts, process flows, and capacity/throughput charts using advanced domain knowledge.
  2. Draft clear, objective reasoning questions based on intricate visualizations, requiring multi-step quantitative analysis and deep understanding beyond surface-level observations.
  3. Deliver unambiguous, precise answers accompanied by comprehensive written explanations and explicit analytical steps or calculations in professional English.
  4. Apply accurate financial, economic, and operational terminology, ensuring clarity in units, scales, timeframes, categories, and notation throughout all submissions.
  5. Develop robust tasks targeting graphical reasoning, comparisons, trend analysis, calculations, and interpolation, while avoiding subjective or ambiguous language.
  6. Collaborate remotely with project teams, communicating effectively in both written and verbal formats to incorporate feedback and ensure consistent, reliable contributions.
  7. Consistently produce objectively verifiable tasks that support the development, training, and evaluation of advanced AI models.


Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
  2. Minimum two years’ professional, academic, or research experience interpreting financial market data, risk metrics, or operational performance charts.
  3. Advanced proficiency in interpreting chart features such as axes, units, legends, scales, and annotations across diverse chart types.
  4. Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate analytical processes and quantitative reasoning in both written and spoken English.
  5. Bilingual proficiency in English and ideally a second language relevant to the financial or operational domain.
  6. Experience in technical documentation, financial reporting, process or quality assessment, or structured analytical task creation.
  7. Background in producing data-annotation tasks, benchmark questions, technical reports, or related deliverables for finance, operations, or AI-driven projects.
