What the work is
Role Overview
Mercor is collaborating with a leading AI lab to engage experienced insurance professionals across all areas of practice — including underwriting, claims, actuarial, risk management, brokerage, compliance, reinsurance, and policy/product. Contributors help build AI systems that reason about real insurance work by translating everyday insurance workflows, judgments, and decision-making into structured, high-quality training data.
Key Responsibilities
- Design realistic insurance scenarios and tasks drawn from your day-to-day work (e.g., risk assessment and underwriting decisions, claims adjudication, policy interpretation, coverage analysis, actuarial pricing/reserving, regulatory compliance reviews)
- Review and compare AI-generated insurance outputs for accuracy, sound professional judgment, and regulatory/standards compliance
- Create structured examples that reflect how insurance professionals actually reason through problems
- Provide clear written feedback that improves how AI performs insurance tasks
- Collaborate asynchronously with the research team
Ideal Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in insurance (underwriting, claims, actuarial, risk management, brokerage, compliance, or a related area; carrier, broker/agency, reinsurer, or advisory)
- A professional credential such as CPCU, ARM, AINS, CLU, AIC, ACAS/FCAS or ASA/FSA (actuarial), or a state adjuster/broker license is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Comfortable with common industry tools and systems (e.g., policy administration, claims, and rating platforms, Excel)
- Strong written communication and attention to detail
More About the Opportunity
- Open to all insurance specialties — contribute where your expertise is strongest
- Work spans task design, evaluation, and structured feedback on AI insurance outputs
- Strong contributors advance into reviewer, lead, and domain-expert roles
Application Process
- Submit a resume or a short summary of your insurance experience
- Complete a short form on your practice area, specialties, and certifications
